SportairUSA, the distributor of the Sting and Sirius light sport models, and World Aircraft Co., developer of the Spirit and Vision LSAs, have chosen the Vertical Power VP-X Electronic Circuit Breaker System to manage the electrical system and control of trim and flaps.

The VP-X integrates with EFIS units from Dynon, Grand Rapids Technology and Garmin, allowing pilots to monitor the status of individual devices and the electrical system. The unit replaces thermal breaker technology with modern solid-state electronic circuit breakers. ECBs can detect short circuits, over-current conditions, and open-circuit faults.

“We are using the VP-X on our aircraft as a modern alternative to the old method of mechanical circuit breakers and complicated wiring,” said Bill Canino, president of SportairUSA. “The VP-X is a safer system, with fewer failure points, improved quality control and a simplified wiring harness compared to conventional installations.”

Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Vertical Power produces ECBs for the LSA and experimental markets.
