Gulfstream added a new jet to its fleet of certified airplanes this week after the FAA gave the green light to the ultra-long-range Gulfstream G650ER.
The G650ER, first announced in May, brings even longer legs to an airplane that already set the gold standard for its combination of speed and range. The new G650ER can take fliers an additional 500 nautical miles while traveling at Mach 0.85, bringing the new airplane’s max range to 7,500 nm over the original G650’s 7,000.
The longer range opens up a number of new nonstop city pairs, such as New York to Hong Kong and San Francisco to Delhi. The G650ER’s high-speed cruise range, achieved at Mach 0.90, is 6,400 nm.
Both the Gulfstream G650 and the G650ER max out at a top speed of Mach 0.925. Like the G650, the G650ER can seat up to 18 passengers and has a max cruise altitude of 51,000 feet.
Gulfstream says it will deliver the G650ER to its first customer by the end of year.
