Embraer Legacy 450 Gains U.S. Approval

FAA certifies Brazilian mid-light jet.

Embraer’s Legacy 450 business twinjet received FAA type certification yesterday, three weeks after notching its Brazilian approval. With the certification papers in hand, Embraer Executive Jets plans to start customers deliveries as early as next month.

The “mid-light” Legacy 450 is the first in its category with full fly-by-wire technology and side-stick flight controls, which makes it easier to fly, said Marco Tulio Pellegrini, President and CEO of Embraer Executive Jets.

Powered by a pair of Honeywell HTF7500E turbofan engines, the Legacy 450 seats up to nine passengers with a six-foot-tall cabin and a flat floor and is capable of flying 2,575 nm at long-range cruise speed.

Next for the Legacy 450 will be European EASA certification, expected soon.
